À PROPOS DU CROUS

Architect : Atelier Tardy
Type : Furniture, Reception
Location : East
Surface area : 150 m² (150 sqm)
Sector of activity : Education

For the fitting out of the Stendhal hall of the CROUS in Besançon, the CROUS Bourgogne Franche-Comté wanted a personalised and friendly reception area bringing together all the services needed for student life and staff to create a new approach to work: dematerialised and free.

The desire for a warm space for students and staff

In order to respond to new uses, the CROUS wanted to modernise this mixed 150 m² space both aesthetically and functionally and to transform it into a real space for sharing.

To meet the CROUS’s request, the Tardy studio was looking for furniture that could be used by both CROUS staff and students for collaborative and informal purposes. So, as a matter of course, the architectural studio fell in love with the Cider spirit and the flexibility of its layouts.

We chose to work with Cider because of the flexibility of their layouts and their great understanding of the Crous’ needs. Declares Charlotte Tardy, Communications Manager at Atelier Tardy.

A “student house” in Cider colours

So Cider redesigned the hall with connected, multi-functional furniture and made the space designer. The A Table, in the centre of the hall, was customised with white legs especially for the project. Equipped with connectors, it has multiple uses. It serves as a divider between the low-backed and high-backed Cast sofas, bringing a calming visual symmetry to the space.

Petal tables and A Dada footstools dot the space and add a playful touch. Cider and Atelier Tardy chose soft tones, pink and grey, for the furnishings to bring a cocooning touch to the space.

The design of a living and meeting place for the democratisation of design

By making this hall as design as it is functional, Cider was able to bring design where it is not expected and thus bring freshness to an ageing space.

Contributing to the daily comfort of staff and students and thus helping to make their learning more enjoyable, this project has enabled Cider to bring design and propose its know-how to a wider public.
